Lords’ new property, opening in September, to have biggest swimming pool in India

Lords Hotels & Resorts has significant expansion plans for the Indian market for 2019. Adding to this,  PR Bansal, COO, Lords Hotels and Resorts says, “Lords Hotels and Resorts is now preparing to open a world-class club in Rajkot by September 15, 2019. It will be a 40-room property and ‘the best club of India’ called Aarya Lords Club & Resorts. It will have the largest swimming pool in India – of 500 metres – with gandolas. It is owned by a first-generation hotelier who is a renowned architect from Gujarat called Ishwar Gehi.”

IHCL and GIC create Rs 4000 crore platform to acquire hotel assets


The Indian Hotels Company has announced a strategic partnership with Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, GIC for an investment platform to the tune of Rs 4000 crores or USD 600 million over a period of three years. This Platform will be used to acquire fully operational hotels in the luxury, upper upscale and upscale segments in India. This platform will look at potential hotel assets primarily located in key lodging markets in India. The mandate is to acquire fully operational hotels which will also include distressed or underperforming hotels that can be turned around banking on IHCL’s experience and capabilities. Commenting on the signing of this agreement, Mr. Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, IHCL said, “We are delighted to partner with GIC, one of the most reputable global investors. This collaboration is in line with Aspiration 2022 and our vision to scale up, create greater enterprise value and make IHCL South Asia’s most iconic and profitable hospitality company. Through this Platform, we expect to acquire strategic and marquee assets that need new ownership, branding and positioning.” Key highlights of the Platform for IHCL are: • IHCL will be able to pursue acquisitions in an asset light format, with the equity contribution from IHCL at 30% and the balance 70% contributed by GIC. • Each acquisition is intended to be in a separate SPV with its own funding. • The hotels acquired will be managed by IHCL under its various brands and complement the company’s current growth aspirations via Management Contracts.

THE Park opens a 60-room property in Mumbai

THE Park Hotels has announced the opening of its new hotel located at Juhu Tara Road, THE Park Mumbai. The 60-room property will offer six categories of rooms; with views of either the Arabian Sea or the city while some overlook the historic Juhu airfield. The rooms and studio suites have been designed with a monochromatic colour palette with world-class amenities. The room rates start from INR 17,000 onwards.

The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has recently announced the launch of its new hotel brand- SeleQtions and Ambassador New Delhi has been rebranded and joins the SeleQtions family. The property is now called as Ambassador, New Delhi IHCL SeleQtions. Rajindera Kumar, Director of the hotel, said, “Today, the hotel has come under the SeleQtions brand of IHCL and we are very proud of the same. I must compliment Puneet Chhatwal for this endeavour.” The new brand has launched 12 hotels across the country and the first phase include properties present in seven key lodging markets of India: President, Mumbai; Ambassador, New Delhi; The Connaught, New Delhi; Blue Diamond, Pune; Cidade de Goa; Tajview, Agra and Devi Ratn, Jaipur. Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with Shanghai Xintian Real Estate, a joint venture by Shanghai Industrial Urban Development Group (SIUD), Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP), and Shanghai Minhang Urban Construction Investment for a Hyatt Centric hotel in the rising southwestern Shanghai. The 186-room hotel will be situated in a pivotal location, ideal for socially connected guests to find shareworthy experiences in the heart of the fast-growing city of Shanghai. As home to two of Shanghai’s newest areas, Xinzhuang and Hongqiao, the district has realized striking growth in recent years with an aim to become a modern downtown hub by 2020.

Radisson Hospitality has announced the opening of the Radisson Hotel Zurich Airport following a comprehensive reconstruction and rebranding. Arriving in Switzerland’s largest city, the hotel will be the second Radisson-branded property to open in Europe – and the first in the German-speaking region. As part of a repositioning and rebranding strategy, the former Park Inn by Radisson Zürich Airport in Rümlang has reopened under the Radisson brand. This is all part of the group’s plan to introduce the sophisticated upscale full-service hotel brand to the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region.
